We’re proud to share our final impact report for Peers Together, a one-to-one peer support service for people living long-term with bipolar.
The service ran from January 2023 to April 2025 and provided over 846 hours of support to 80 people across 25 areas in Scotland. It was designed for people who weren’t newly diagnosed, but who were still looking for support, understanding, and hope.
Too often, people with a long-term bipolar diagnosis feel overlooked by services. Peers Together gave them the chance to speak to someone who truly understood – because every peer worker and peer volunteer also lives with bipolar.
This report shows the difference that kind of support can make. People told us they felt less alone, more confident, and better able to manage their condition. Some even went on to become peer volunteers or move into paid work.
The report also shares what we’ve learned, about how to make peer support work well, and why it’s so important to offer this kind of support beyond the point of diagnosis.
Although Peers Together has now ended due to funding, we’re committed to keeping this work going. We’ll keep pushing for the funding we need to make peer support available to more people across Scotland.
Thank you to everyone – peers, staff, volunteers, and supporters – who made this service possible.
